The Gulf fritillary, Agraulis vanillae, is a brightly colored butterfly, common across extreme southern portions of the United States. Occasionally mistaken for a Monarch because the top side is orange and black, the underside has silver teardrop shaped markings. The silver drop marks are also found in other fritillaries, but the Gulf Fritillary is actually part of the tropical heliconiidae family.

This 5 x 8 frame contains two specimens. One is mounted right side up, the other upside down. They are both mounted on mirror, a unique way to display butterflies who have two very different sides. When looking in the mirror, one has the illusion of seeing 4 butterflies!

This specimen is also available in a 6 x 6 frame, and on parchment backing as well. For a different mount than what it shown, please make a note in the "comment" section when checking out, or contact us directly.
