This is the rare silver scarab. Even though it is technically not a Scarab, or dung beetle, these iridescent jewel beetles are called "jewel scarabs", presumably because they are so beautiful they might as well be associated with sacred beetles! We also offer Chrysina replendans (gold) and Chrysina gloriosa (green and silver). These beetles are very popular among collectors; many species are polymorphic, with rare color variants that can command high prices. These beetles were featured on the cover of National Geographic Magazine (see Jewel Scarabs at Nationalgeographic.com).http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0102/feature3/index.html

This one is mounted on beige parchment or white background (your choice) in a 5 x 7 frame.
